For more than a decade, I worked as a social media manager, political editor, and fact checker for Republicans and Democrats.

Both sides. I spent that time in the trenches. The work is done, and I’m retiring.

That means I’m leaving legacy social media too. The churn wore me out. From here on, I live on Substack and Bluesky.

I’m starting a new channel in my life, and I’m building it next to my wife. Together we’ve launched the Black Elephant Show, a live webcast and podcast. It covers the human experience through our lens: a married couple, live, talking about whatever is real that week. Our first episode has aired. Watch it at blackelephant.substack.com.

We go live every Thursday night at 7:15 PM Eastern.

Why video on a writer’s platform? Because live is where thought runs free. No edit, no second draft, nothing to hide behind. You get the real version of me, fumbles included. In episode one, I knew something cold and couldn’t explain it. That’s the point.

When I fumble

I fix it on the page later, and that builds trust. The live show is the main event. The writing is the follow-up, where I bolster an opinion, expand a thought, or correct my own live mistakes.

VengaDragon isn’t going anywhere. It stays online, and I’ll still drop a post there when the mood strikes. But my focus is on the show now.
